It will be led by Gerry Firkins; he is a local botanist and has led field meetings and taught plant identification for Sheffield University, WEA and the RSPB since the 1980s and is now a tutor for the Botanical Society of the British Isles. Forge Dam -historia Varhaisimmat historialliset viittaukset Forge Dam -patoon ovat, että Thomas Boulsover luovutti laillisesti äskettäin rakennetun takon (noin 1760) vävylleen Joseph Mitchellille vuonna 1765 ja vuonna 1779 Fairbank kuvaili paikkaa "Thomas Boulsoverin padoksi" yhdessä takomo ja alempi pato (nyt täytetty). Tämä oli osa Boulsoverin teollista "imperiumia", johon kuuluivat Button Mill ja Wire Mill Dam sekä siihen liittyvät rakennukset. Myöhemmin takomo ja pato kirjattiin eri tavoin Boulsoverin managerin Samuel Thompsonin ja myöhemmin Boulsoverin jälkeläisten omistukseen, ja lopulta John Hutton myi ne vuonna 1900 showmanille Herbert Maxfieldille. 1800-luvun puolivälin tienoilla takomossa oli kaksi vesipyörää ja höyrykone, jotka käyttivät voimaa takomossa. Takon uskotaan lopettaneen kaupallisen yrityksen noin vuonna 1887. Siitä lähtien patoa käytettiin edelleen veneilyyn, ja virkistyselämyksen lisäämiseksi rakennettiin kahvila ja lasten leikkipaikka.
