We are aware of problems at wire mill dam with lack of water. Thanks to everyone who has reported it to either the council or the Environment Agency. We have informed the Parks Dept for urgent attention.
There has been no rain and the Porter is low. We don’t believe there are any sluice closures and it’s a precarious eco system.
We need the goit to flow however that dam is mainly replenished by rain running down from the hillside.
We understand that the parks department are now liaising with the fire service to attempt to re oxygenate the water and looking at longer term works to improve the flow through the goit.
