Work morning 9th May 19

Updated: Jun 13, 2019

Hello Volunteers,

Thank you to those who turned out on a damp and cold Thursday morning to carry out tasks around Forge Dam, Not helped by the road down to

Forge Dam Cafe being closed due to a very large excavation having been made across the approach road. Thanks to Ranger Nick Blood who drove his van loaded with tools for us around the long way via Ivy Cottage Lane down to our store.

We carried out three main tasks. Holly was cut down to improve light access to the slide in the playground and also over the path by the side of the garages. Work was begun on the long retaining wall by the green space. Roots, undergrowth and surplus soil was removed. A good start but its a long job.The stainless steel plaque was successfully replaced in its position where the stream enters the Wiremill goit. The plaque celebrates the work done by the Council and FOPV in 2001 to restore the goit.

The next work morning is scheduled for Tuesday 28th May. This is the day after the Spring Bank Holiday Monday. This may be a problem for many of our volunteers. Please watch out for emails and the web site in case it is necessary to rearrange this date.

Thanks again.
